Look at all the clans: Crab is dying; Naga, Monks, and we will all take 
heavy losses from the battles in our lands; Unicorn just lost the Otaku 
Stables, then there's the (I'm certain) upcoming death of Kamoko, and 
Yokatsu's work as the kolat master yet to be revealed; if the Scorpion 
return, they'll have lost many of their numbers in the desert; the Crane 
and Mantis will nearly tear each other apart (I'm betting on the deaths 
of both their champions); Lion is still crippled from the Day of 
Thunder; Phoenix has yet to come back (though that will change soon when 
the Agasha join them); Toturi's Army has more or less always sucked, and 
will continue to do so if Otosan Uchi gets attacked by any rampaging 
Yoritomos; and that leaves the shadowlands - who will almost certainly 
get whacked at the end of each storyline - and the ninja, who we know 
nothing about.   Everyone (except perhaps the ninja) will be dealt heavy 
blows by this storyline, and everyone will have to rebuild in the next, 
and we will be no exception. 
At least we'll never again suck in open, though.   :)
