     Too large would attract attention. Too small and we all might as well commit seppuku here rather than lose our souls to the Shadowlands. I'd say 8 to 12. I agree that we will need a Kitsuki to help track down Kokujin, some magical help from the Agasha (Dragon or Phoenix), and some stalwart Mirumoto bushi. I've mentioned the idea to Hida Togeriso, Crab Lorekeeper, and he assures me that the Crab will be glad to lend whatever assistance is required (though I'm sure the Yasuki will want fair value for their jade ;). From the Crab, I'll gladly serve as guide. Maybe the Lorekeeper or a tsukai-sagasu from our Clan.

And what about your ise nezumi friend on this list? A tattooed Ratling would certainly be a great help - will you join us?

>2: What percentage shouldn't make it back?

     Well, it's definitely dangerous, and yes, we all volunteered. But I think it should be clear to all that their character might get killed, just so that there's no bad blood. I think at least one must return triumphant, if anyone at all (there's a certain appeal to us all dying in vain ;), and if anyone returns they'll still need their guide :P Besides, we Hida can take an awful lot of killing (Kojiro-san, you've seen my stats. Okami won't go down easy, if at all). While I don't expect to get killed, I'm not above becoming a different man, so to speak.

>3:What other clans should we invite along?

     Crab assistance would be beneficial.  Phoenix and Scorpion if they should desire.  Crane are too soft, Lion too corrupt already, Unicorn too busy elsewhere ;}

>4:What do you think Kokujin's insight would be?

As far as the RPG stat? Probably Rank 4.

>5:What powers, if any, do you think Togashi's Daisho bestow?

     Who knows? I agree that, as the weapon of a kami, it is a very powerful nemuranai - powerful enough to refuse to be used by the wrong hands.

>6:Should we involve anyone famous?

     Not unless Ree wants Doji Shizue to join us :} Kuni Yori would make a great villain, and gives me all the more reason to want to accompany you ("Oh my God! He killed Yakamo! You bastard!"). Big-name personalities are OK as villains, but you have to take care not to kill them in case AEG wants to do something else with them. Otherwise, you risk making a story that won't fit their continuity, and then Ree will never make it official.

>7:What do you think gives us the best chance of grabbing Ree's attention?

     Bribery. Puck's got those pictures of her from Gen Con :)

>8:Where do you think Kokujin is, and with who?

     That, my friends, is what we're embarking to find out. Somewhere bad, with someone bad.

>9:How much do we want bushido involved?

     This should be all about bushido. Better for us all to die with honor than for one to live with compromise.

>10:Should Kokujin be killed or just beaten and the daisho retrieved?

     Again, I wouldn't kill Kokujin unless Ree says it's OK. Better for him to escape, or we never find the body, any of the literary conventions for villains. The daisho should be our main priority.

>11: How many people should face off with Kokujin?

     Here is where Crab and Dragon differ.  I understand your code of honor, but a crab will not grant honor to one who is not worthy of it.  Kokujin falls outside the bounds of our code of honor.  As is the motto of the 11th Armored Cavalry, "find the bastard, then pile on"  ;}

>12: How long do you think the story should be?

     As long as it needs to be. 5000 words give or take a thousand. If Ree is interested in seeing it, maybe she can suggest. If not, then tell the tale and let it determine its own length.

>13:What would you call it (I still need a title after all)?

     Something that incorporates honor, the Dragon, and the Shadow. I guess you could say that Kokujin is a "Shadow of his former self" (as Okami ducks...).

>14:What kinds of beasties do you want to see in the story?

     Oni and goblins to kill by the dozens. Some spooky off-screen stuff to scare everyone. And Nezumi with which we can bargain for information and assistance.

>15:What rank do you think Kojiro should be for this story?

     Tai-sa at most, though Chu-i would do fine for a group that small.

>16:How many parts magic to swordplay (or anything else) do you want?

     Magic will be necessary, even in battle. Jade spells are a *must*. We won't be able to avoid all battles, but trust that if we charge into the Shadowlands looking for a fight, we'll get killed while we can still see Kaiu Kabe.

>17:Anything else you'd like to throw in?

    I am honored that the Dragon will allow me to accompany them on this mission.

>Anyway, the only thing I have decided is that the story will start at SoSM, when Kokujin steals the Daisho.

     Sounds good.
