Greetings brothers,
                                it seems we're doing a bit of introducing so
why not myself. I'm 22 years old, living in Adelaide, South Australia. Sadly
I too first got into CCGs through the M game. Those were dark and traumatic
times I'd rather not bring up, having actually some how enjoyed the game,
I'd like to forget my shame. Anyway, (a word I'm fond of) I went from M to
just RPGs for several years, with a bit of wargaming on the side. Didn't
have a job for most of it so I couldn't afford to play CCGs of any type. I
remember years ago, when Imperial came out, my friends getting into it and
having lengthy discussions about their decks. Back before anyone had three
of ANY card (rallying cries were in hot demand, as were, strangely,
wakizashis). I looked at L5R and said "too complex. Feh." The art didn't
particularly grab me either, until years later, watching a game at our club.
Someone had tried a Dragon deck, but it didn't work and so had been
scrapped. Several of the cards were still on the table, and one caught my
eye. I picked it up, looking at the wonderful artwork, and resolving to hate
Matt Wilson for all time. "Who is this guy? He looks stonky! (a word popular
at the time, eesh...)" My friend replied "God" and I looked at him
quizzically. He explained that few else in the game had that many traits,
and no one else was a samurai and a shugenja. After a quick explanation of
what a shugenja was, I bought the card for $4 dollars. I wen to another
friend, and asked him to tell me the story of L5R. He gave me the story
backed strongholds, and I knew I had to Learn how took play so I could build
the 7 Thunders deck. After going through hell to acquire a few of the
Thunders, I noticed an annoying little trait on two of them. Will only join
Crane/Crab clan. Again, going to my friend, I asked how I could get around
this. He told me the only way was to use the next version of Yokuni. Hunting
that down, I read the ability, and the Will only join Dragon bit and my
choice was made. There were no other Dragon players in the city at the time
(there are only two of us now). I built my Thunders deck and even managed
to come 3rd in a tournament once with it (to  my shame, thats my highest
placing ever too...). I'm not a good deck builder is my problem...oh well,
live and learn. Well, that how I got into L5R. All Matt Willson's fault.
