Guess I might as well add my 2 Koku on this:

My name is Shaun Scott, most of you know me as Hida Okami. I am a 32-year old Micro$erf (yeah, I know it's worse than being a P*kem*n player ;) from Buffalo, NY. I'm on my second marriage and I have a 14 year-old stepson who I've taught to play Magic and Rage but he doesn't like L5R unfortunately...

I've been roleplaying since 1981 and been playing CCGs since 1994. I didn't go for Magic:the Addiction (or Money: the Gathering, or what have you) at first. But I'm a big fan of White Wolf's World of Darkness RPGs, so when Jyhad came out, our Storyteller bought a box. He set me up with a Gangrel deck and I was interested enough to buy cards of my own. Soon, a friend offered to give me some Magic cards if I set him up with a Jyhad deck. My mistake - soon I was hooked on *two* games. Well, interest in Jyhad flagged, but White Wolf made Rage - and since I've always been a wolfy person, that was *the* game for me. I've played if for the last 4 1/2 years, and was overjoyed when the new release came out. I started teaching friends, who "thanked" me by getting me into Doomtown, and recently, L5R.

I got into L5R a few months ago, just after the release of Honor Bound. My friend was going to hook me up with a deck, so I got on the web and looked around. The honorable Lion sounded appealing, but then I saw the blurb for Crab - "Masters of warfare who consider victory more important than honor". I was intrigued and selected Crab. In addition to the deck my friend set me up with, I soon bought the Crab starter from every possible expansion. I flirted with the corrupt Crab theme (hard to resist the Yakamo Oni with the Crab sword!) but recently I've been doing Crab Ratling, berserkers, or Taka's Tricks.

My exposure to the Dragon came, ironically enough, frommy quest to obtain the Crab Sword. I picked up the Battle of Beiden Pass (one advantage to Crab is the Sword is easy to find), and after looking at all my extra cards, realized I had the makings of a good second deck. Originally it was intended to teach others to play, but after some dicouraging losses in our local weekly tournaments, I decided to use the Dragon deck instead.

Mallet is right - NOBODY duels like Dragon! And I've proven this to our local silky-boy Crane on a weekly basis. And when I get tired of duelling him, I show him what the "jack-of-all-trades" deck can do by nuking a couple of his provinces. I've spanked Yoritomo and even Crab once or twice ;) My deck has evolved into a right-honorable military duelling deck. It does well enough to net at least 3rd place on a weekly basis.

My quest for more information on Dragon deck technology and strategy has led me here. And I like it here :) I'm a Crab at heart, but there's a little Mirumoto bushi inside of me. And it's even led me to modify my kenjutsu studies to incorporate nito-kenjutsu.

Well, that's about all I have to say.  It's not fitting fr a Crab to run off at the mouth too often ;}

Regards,
Shaun Scott aka Hida Okami
