I never played a player with the same record as me except for the very first
game. Because the other 5-0 guy (I confirmed this with the tournament
organizer) played someone when they were both 3-0 and it was the other guy's
only loss, he finished with a higher "opponent's strength" rating and placed
first. I didn't play either of them.
They were using computer software from WotC to do the pairings
automatically. I guess I just got shafted by the computer (not the first
time that has happened ;-).
I had great luck with the deck. Sukune allowed me to do military. I had no
fear of counter-attacks from the Fox (they never had enough force). Against
Monk, I attacked with Cavalry and Biting Steels, keeping my honor above
theirs to control the favor. I would attack where they had people to kill
their army and collect honor. Fortunately for me, they would split their
forces and allow me to do it. I actually won 2 games militarily, and
managed to take at least 1 province in each game. Biting Steel is such a
GREAT card! I can't believe they fixed 2 of them in our decks! In our area
they were talking how strong the Fox are out of the deck, but I never played
the winning Fox people....
