Oh he's always talking about how Phoenix isn't very strong on #l5r, and he
always gets beat down there too. He doesn't give up.

And he's an Agasha who fled to the Phoenix. He deserves it.

> You preach about honor. Live it. Attack principles are
> ok, but the semipersonal? Come on.

Actually, when I attack Phoenix, it's more just the "cardset" than the
players. If we had megacheese, I'd probably be playing it, so how can I
blame the Phoenix who do the same?

But... I'd *totally* admit that it was megacheese. I wouldn't post
messages about how "we're not very strong any more" and how we don't stand a
chance at winning the next GST even though we've won the last two, most of
the RSTs, that year's GenCon and other storyline tourneys, *especially* when
the card mix hasn't really changed so there's *absolutely no reason* why
such a statement would be true.

As for semipersonal, he's made a statement that is utterly false, and he's
either lying or foolish. Either possibility deserved that response.

> Pheonix can be cheese. OK, mostly, it is. But what about
> those who play it other ways? Foolish? Why because
> they don't cheese it out?

That's now the discussion. He said Phoenix wasn't strong any more and
it's blatantly untrue. Such lies (or foolishness, I'm not sure which)
deserve the response I gave.

> Maybe HDMers are "foolish" if they don't go corrupt and
> speedy. I do not think so, but the arguement can be made.

From a certain standpoint, that statment is most certainly true. Not from
ours.

> Drag enlightment is cheese with Drag Tattooo. Free ROA.
> Maybe Gold evens it out. Maybe it does not.

Seeing as how Dragon ("cheese") enlightenment doesn't 1) Go first all the
time, 2) Get to recycle the Finding The Cheese Kiho, 3) relies on the one
tattoo to go on the one tattooed shugenja (and you get one ROA out of it) I
don't see how anyone could really call it cheese.

And it's not just FtH. Phoenix makes great military -- Shiba Technique
SCREAMS that it should have been a Dragon card. We're the clan whose
Samurai work (and train!) with Shugenja, not them, but they got that *great*
card. We got "The Hitomi Suckage Technique" in the same set. And don't
forget that they can play the Elemental Dragons easier because they're
higher in honor and get *huge* money to pay for Shugenja, especially if
they'll corrupt them (which they *always* do unless they lost a bet).

Phoenix does great dishonor, mostly because they can recycle The Wind's
Truth. We're not bad at this either, but I'd have to give them a slight
edge.

Phoenix Honor/Control is totally strong as well. Perhaps Bergstrom's new
"BASH" deck is better, but from what I've seen, it's also far flimsier.

Add to any of these mixes Taeruko/Empty Crevasse (and now Taeruko/Poorly
Placed Garden!!!!) and you've got the speed that edges Phoenix over anyone.

> A Pheonix player, and a damn originalish one at that, comes out
> and says "Don't bash us this badly" and you freak. I would
> expect better from you.

He didn't just say "don't bash us", he said "don't bash us because we're
not that strong any more" and that's FALSE. FALSE FALSE FALSE FALSE. If
his only reason for not bashing them is false, there's no reason not to bash
them. QED.

> Oh how the HDM has fallen.

*shrug*. I'm sick and tired of the Phoenix. So is Josh. I'm also sick
of hearing that Phoenix really isn't that strong when ALL EVIDENCE points to
the EXACT OPPOSITE STATMENT.
