It has been sometime since I last posted, I recently moved houses, and it took
us some time to setup the computers again, but I'm back finally.
Finally, the new story arc is being introduced, Spirit Wars is an awesome new
expansion (especially if you take in mind that Gold+SW will be our cardpool
from the release of Gold till GenCon2001).
I believe dueling is back in the scene (and will stay for good in the
post-golden era) and many of us that love it and have left it to the side for
all this time may be willing to give it a try again.
As for the Spirit Wars prerelease, even though I come a bit late to this issue,
I believe it has been one of the best pre-releases I have ever played,
everything was ballance to a large degree and all three strongholds were
interesting and fun to play, leaving the same opportunities for all, which made
us forget the previous Kosaten Shiro fiasco.
For constructed play, the Shrine of the Spirits seems to be a little bit too
strong, but it wont be around for much and you can consider it the bandwagoner's
last gift from the designer. The Pheonix stronghold is awesone, tottally, but
it take brains to run it and I dont think we will be seeing it all too often.
Finally, the Lion stronghold is not bad, not very good either. Especially in
gold that the Lion will have a bunch of cheap tacticians to run (0/4 for 6g and
2/4 for 7g is very cheap for gold standards) plus Lion can use Akodo Sensei
with the Terrain Breaker.
About our clan now.
Tho Topaz Champuion is really cool but the 8HR freaked me out. he's
definatelly a non-3x
Uso exp is definately too expensive, but he gets in for the fun of it.
Miya Yemi, Just have her in mind for the post Gold era where the favor doesnt
Tamori Chosai, he's tottaly awesome but I guess his 6HR is the drawback for
Tamori Shaitung's numbers sound fine, only that I havent put much thought into
Togashi Mio is not all that bad, not good either. He fits to strategies I'm not
Fields of the Sun and Great Crater(bye bye March and Enemy of my Enemy) are of
Revering the Past shouts for Shiryo no Togashi
Shiryo no Nyoko, she gets into the Ancestor book, not my deck though....
Warriors of the Great Climb, gets easily pumped, 5G is a bit bit of a problem
Better and Honorable are Dragon weapons, they have a nice story, but Judgement
is better, they are nice in fun decks though.
All new Tattooes are somehow interesting, there is a lot of go-home action,
some non-targeting which works with Yodin Sensei.
Finally, what rang my bell and as I have seen, not just mine is Akodo Sensei.
When I went to the first prerelease that I played and someone told me what it
did I begun from this moment constructing a strategy to use the him. I have
been trying to make a Tactician Honor runner for quite some time but it lacked
the strength that Akodo sensei can give.

It wins a lot, its fun to play, you have to be carefull because it cant do
overkills in duels but the focus values are quite high. Your chances to
Portents Bomb are fairly high, since you have 5 cards that can eventually
fetch them. I believe that with a little bit of tunning, which I'm not into
doing since there are no EJ tournaments around, it can be blasting...
