Had an interesting conversation and wanted to test a theory....
When did you first start playing l5r? (what set)
My first purchase was the Bieden Pass boxed set. I had been playing
other peoples decks for about 3 weeks before that.
Was dragon your first choice of clans?
Yes. I remember being at my buddy Mick's house and all the guys trying
to get me to play. I asked about factions - they said Dragon, I said
"Oh really - I'll play them." then they said "But they're really hard to
play, you can't handle Dragon." It was sealed from then on - "Can't
play Dragon hunh? Watch me mop the floor with your sad behinds."
Why did you choose dragon?
I think the whole Dragon mythic thing that's been mentioned by many
others, plus Bruce Lee was the DRAGON.
How would you rate your skill level as a player?
(beginner, intermediate, highly skilled, top rate)
I would have to say I've been moving from intermediate to highly skilled
the last 2 years or so. I really started hitting the tourney scene
and playing a lot of new and different people. I think my skill level has
soared since GenCon 2000. I hope to continue to improve, I think my
Dragon Toolbox will make a big splash at season of the Unicorn tommorrow!!!!
What age are you?
Didn't your mama ever tell you it's impolite to ask? Kidding. 28
Have you noticed any trends about players that favor another clan?
I've noticed more stereo type stuff. Most Crabs I know also watch pro
wrestling and think the CWO (Crab World Order) is a goal to strive for.
Lion and Horde seem to be power mongers - they tend to be very forceful
people in life as well as game (though I also know a lion who is as
gentle as a kitten, but smart as a whip - must be Ikoma) Scorpions - I
don't know . . . I probably know more Scorpions than any other type
. . . They're just too different, never met 2 alike.

Well, I foe one think the theory has been proven bogus. Looking over the
post, most repondendts seem to be 25 - 30 years of age, with a good bit of
L5R history. That means we either have really cruddy cards, or what we
thingk of intermidiate and highly skilled needs to be evaluated.
