[dragon] This is not a game of Magic

All the things you originally loved about the game are still there. At
least three clans(lion, unicorn, crane) can run all samurai honor decks.
Dragon may not be far off. If shugenja bother you so bad, then you have the
tools to hurt just shugenja. Corruption of the Harmonies and Imperial
Editcs to start. I'm sure there are more.

Shugenja aren't just now becoming the cornerstone in some honor decks. In
gold, they've always been an integral part for Dragon and Phoenix. They've
always been important in dishonor decks.

If any one group is increasing their importance in the game, it's courtiers.

>Meanwhile Samurai can kill themselves.

And on average have much more force and personal honor than other
personality types. They have access to a larger selection of followers to
attach.

>When I began playing L5R it was a game about an oriental culture >similar
>to Japan, and now it seems a fairy world of kami, with a few >samurai to
>maintain the oriental flavor.

It still is a game with asian influence. That 'fairy world of kami' has
always been a part of it. There most certainly are more than 'a few
samurai' in the game presently.

>I love duelling, and the niten style is wonderful, so I play Mirumoto.
>And not only there is no Mirumoto with Double Chi since the beginning,

That's a design feature. Dragon don't get double chi samurai. We get peeps
that do funky things in duels. The cranes get double chi samurai.

>but now, with the Tonfas, designers give the Double Chi trait almost >for
>free, for everybody but Samurai.

So I've got to include six copies of a card in my deck and then put two
copies of it on one non-samurai peep to give him double chi. Where is the
'free' part? If anyone wastes that much space just to get the double chi
trait then they've already lost the game.

>But the Samurai can kill themselves.
>There should be ways to give uniqueness and worthiness to the Samurai
>trait.
>Shouldn't be Samurai the only ones to wear armor, by example?

Samurai are the only ones who can attach two weapons, at least in dragon
decks. (with the exception of Nyoko being attached or wakizashis) And yes
samurai give you protection from dishonor by being able to kill themselves.

>I'm tired of the Shugenja domination in almost every aspect of the game.

Then play the cards that hurt shugenja. I know plenty of honor and military
decks that don't need or use shugenja. IMHO, shugenja are not dominating
almost every aspect of the game.

>If only Shugenja couldn't cast kihos, and kihos were monk-only,

I think this is why you'll continue to see some monk only kihos. Shugenja
can't do everything that is mystical.

>but as things go, they
>are overpowered, much more when every countermeasure (Witch Hunt...) is
>done by Shugenja.

Imperial Edicts. And if you say, 'but i never have the favor', then run
aquiring favor. Have you ever been about to win a game by torrential
raining in that final battle only to have someone edicts your spell and then
crush you? I have. So don't tell me that the only counter measures to
shugenja are ones that require shugenja to use.

>Opinions?

In my opinion and judging by your email, you have some serious shugenja
hate. You hate them so much that it's warping your view of the whole game.
Your hate is consuming you to the point where all you see is shugenja and
what they are given. You need to break free from the hate and look at what
the game has to offer samurai wise. With the release of BB, dragon can
build a more reliable all samurai honor deck.

Now that you've had a chance to rail against shugenja in a public forum,
perhaps you'll be able to move past your hatred for them concentrate on ways
to deal with them. We all need to release anger and frustration sometimes
but you also need to look within yourself now and figure out how you're
going to deal with shugenja because they are not going away.

>P.S..- And why is there no Mirumoto among the hero list?

Maybe cause we didn't win enough Koteis for dragon to have a large military
presence in Otosan-Uchi? What the Vedau, Chieko, and Iroshi are doing
there is a mystery to me.

A CRUSHER, healer, and inker walk into a geisha house ...

>Mirumoto Shane
