While I would have softened the choice of words I agree with most everything
Scott stated. Much of the animosity towards dragon players is self
generated, they give players flak, which is returned. If dragon seeks to
lash out and destroy everything evil than of course the evil is going to
strike back at the dragon. Nearly every clan has seen major corruption in
one form or another, yet dragon remains nearly untouched. Purity is the
enemy of shadowlands, thus until it sees a major fall somewhere in the story
dragon will likely remain the favored targets.
L5r's format is so that all players have a say, every player can pick up a
deck and provide they win an event they can have an impact on the game. What
people need to realize is just because the style of impact isn't one they'd
personally choose, it doesn't make the other players decision wrong or give
anyone the right to harass and whine about their decision.
No one at AEG is out to "get" any clan, let alone the dragon. Rich and Shawn
value player input very highly and aren't out to screw anyone. They (and the
rest of AEG) also respect that not all players players play the same way so
they allow multiple options just like those at GCUK. Jon Palmer won his
place by the rules, his choice was made under those rules so the rest of you
have to deal with it regardless of what outcome you would have preferred.
Another thing to note about the story award is that it was in direct
relation to the wishes of the players. How many months did people rant about
how the phnx must be taught a lesson and that revenge was the utmost
importance? Now when the dragon has their chance to move in upon the phnx
during their moment of weakness and extract that revenge they protest
because it's not the exact manner in which they want it. When you cry
because not everything fits your view that's called whining, and that's
happening here way too often.
Rich and Shawn listen to all of the lists very carefully, and they allow for
players to achieve what they want, however just like in real life there are
no promises and not everything smells like roses. The dark alliance in many
ways is what this list has been begging for, but unless it's on your terms
alone you won't touch it. Bah
The award sets for painting a great story, in many ways heralding back to
Kisada's deal with the crab oni. It has potential to shake the very
foundation of the dragon clan, yet on the same note it could be a minor
event. No where in the description was it said that the choice would lead to
all out corruption of the clan, or an open alliance with all the
shadowlands.
It merely stated that Agasha Tamori and the Dragon would direct their
efforts towards the phnx, after that who knows? Maybe once vengeance is
extracted on the Agasha, Tamori would see the error of his ways, with
Akune's choice maybe the power of the wish is so vast that without Tamori
the dragon would be completely doomed, we can only wait and see.
Scott and Jon keep up the winning, and freely make whatever choices you want
because you've earned every right to do so. The list has no right to
pressure you, or complain about your playstyle.
May the Dragon live in interesting times.

PS Rich and Shawn thanks for all the great work so far, you twisted little
devils ;)
