Thank you, Zembu-san. It is good to know that you will take the path
of honor and purity. We need
all the help we can get from players who are both:

a) Able to travel to the big Cons.
  &
b) Able to place high enough to affect the storyline.

Your thoughts on this matter echo what I have been saying for some time
now. However, you
have expressed those thoughts in a much more graceful and concise manner
than I have been able to.

     Again, thank you.

     - Togashi Gao Shan, Kaze-Do Adept

>After not having internet access for a few days and catching up on 100+
>dragon list messages, I wanted to sleep on it before I responded to all
>that's gone on the past few days. I find I can't sleep though because all
>the thoughts are keeping me awake. You now get to hear those thoughts so I
>can get some shut eye.
>
>Being that I'm one of the few people to earn the right to influence the
>story for Dragon in Gold, I feel I have to make my views known in case
>they do carry extra weight or get the attention of the story team. I
>intend to be the Ying to Palmer's Yang in this case.
>
>First though, I need to set the stage for where Dragon was at just before
>GCUK from my POV. The war with the Phoenix was in a stalemate. There had
>been a lull in fighting, a chance to reflect on where we were at and what
>got us there. During this time, some things were brought to light about
>how and why the war with the Phoenix got started. Namely that the volcanic
>activity that percipitated the war was not due to natural causes. In other
>words, they were by design.
>
>Fast forward to the scene at GCUK, Palmer has just secured top dragon.
>He's leaning towards attacking Tamori and ignoring the Phoenix. Enter some
>of the other dragon players who start lobbying for the dragon to ally
>themselves with Tamori in order to attack the phoenix. Palmer then decides
>to go that way with what he sees as the dragon's wish. Fine. Sounds
>reasonable. I can understand how it came to pass. Everyone has their
>reasons some of which were outlined by Ben. The Dragon in some fashion
>will now be walking a darker path.
>
>This isn't the path I would have decided upon but it wasn't my decision.
>It was Palmer's along with all the dragon players who encouraged him. To
>all of you goes the burden of this choice. You have taken our clan down
>this path and it will be up to you to work these dark fields when it is
>time to harvest this crop. If you fail in your responsibility, I will be
>there to clean up the mess you've made.
>
>I hear you now say, "Mess? Zembu, what mess?" You explain to me that
>you're taking care of our Phoenix problem and will deal with Tamori later.
>You say that Aikune can not be trusted and must be dealt with. You give
>many other reasons that have rationalized this choice for you. You even
>say that given only the two options, it was the better one.
>
>Really? I would have thought that cleaning up you're own house, ie
>attacking Tamori before anything else, would be more important. Not only
>that but it would send a signal to the Phoenix that we no longer want
>bloodshed. "We know now why our war with you was started and Tamori was to
>blame so please join with us and rid Rokugan of the Dark Oracle of Fire."
>Instead, you've choosen blood, revenge, death, and more chaos.
>
>Just to be perfectly clear and make this as plain as possible, you have now
>allied the clan with the very being that started the war with the phoenix
>and brought the most death and destruction to our clan in it's whole
>history(Just my guess). Tamori made the volcanoes errupt. Tamori ruined
>our homes. Tamori caused our refugee problems. Tamori orchestrated the
>events that led us to war with the Phoenix. He and the shadowlands are to
>blame. The story team gave us the chance to get Tamori or kill more
>phoenix WITH Tamori. And we chose Tamori? Does everyone else see the
>obsurdity I see in the decision to ask for Tamori's help to kill Phoenix?
>
>"Hey Tamori, buddy ole pal. Thanks a bunch for ruining our peaceful
>existence and starting a war with the Phoenix. As a reward for making the
>clan's life hell for the past year, we'd like you to help us kill them some
>more and generally continue the chaos. What do you say?"
>
>Incidently, the phoenix will feel very justified with starting the war.
>They will say that we've been in it with him from the begining. Do you
>realize how damning this new alliance is going to look?
>
>The story team dangled a carrot out there and some of you just couldn't
>resist. In fact, they've played you sooo bad. They got you in such a
>blood lust over the phoenix, raised the demons left due to the agasha
>leaving, filled you with such hate and desire for revenge, that you passed
>up the chance to destroy the thing that caused our current troubles and
>instead allied with it.
>
>So, more blood it is. You wanted more war with the Phoenix and now you're
>going to get it. When things get nasty again and more of our brothers are
>dead, I won't point to Tamori or the Phoenix or Aikune or the Last Wish
>with an accusing finger and a mean stare, I will be looking directly at
>you. Reap what you sow, my brothers, reap what you sow.
>
>ahem.
>
>Now, here is what I plan to do about it. Someone will have to be a beacon
>of light during the dark times to come. I think the blessed of Lord Sun
>the most appropriate. I see the Togashi family as being the ones to
>counter act this dark path. I've been waiting since April for the
>Blessings of the Heavens fiction. I was looking forward to the Dragon and
>Phoenix possibly becoming closer and more peaceful due to our roles as
>decided by the two tournaments. I figured that the Togashi and the Phoenix
>family blessed by Hitomi would help along the peace process and end our
>hostilities. Now I see that our roles will be even more important than I
>originally thought. I hope Rich and Shawn hear this and take my wishes
>into consideration. May my Blessing of the Sun win be the couterbalance
>and watchdog to Palmer's Gencon UK top dragon placing decision.
