I have a question about the situation with Chukandomo and Doji
Kurohito-sama. I posted the following as part of a comment on Deathseeker a
few days ago.
<< [Recap of message RE: Crane decision-- please correct me if I misrepresent
the facts]
Crane consensus was that Kurohito should keep the sword in a proactive
effort to rid the blade of its curse (and risk destroying the Crane Clan) NOW,
instead of hiding it away for another day. I'll concede the point that this is
a heroic act, or at least a bold one. >>
<< [My understanding of the nature of the curse/History of the blade-- again,
please correct me if I err]
In the RPG, and as referenced in the SotC fiction "Passion," it's clearly
stated that Doji Yasurugi forged the blade with the intent of giving it to the
Lion Clan, specifically the Matsu, in an attempt to mend relations between the
two clans. In the RPG, I believe the blade was cursed/haunted by the ghosts of
those who attempted to return the blade to the Crane and failed. Obviously it's
now back in Crane hands, thanks to the Great Kumo. >>
<< [The question]
Now that the Crane have regained Chukandomo, why would it still be cursed?
(Parting shot from the Great Kumo?) Maybe the unidentified speaker on the card
is blowing smoke, but that'd be a cheap shot. >>
I am obliged for any insight that my cousins, or our guests from the Clan of
the Crane, can provide. Many thanks.
