  Because we are the clan of Wisdom.  We know better.  Or at least, I

  If we'd sided with the Phoenix against Tamori, the chances of this
happening would be greater.

  That's funny.  The Dark Oracle who, just for fun, ignited volcanos in
our lands would live in peace with us.  Hilarious!

  This is also a possibility if we sided against Tamori.  Also, you said
two options, and this is a third.

  Just a nitpick, but she knows he's her father.

  I'm all for killing Phoenix.  I just think cleaning up our own dirty
laundry first is a priority.

  It's a step.  It's also a step that has caused many others to say "Oh
well, why not go corrupt, it's no big deal, right?"

  One step, then another, then another, all the while telling yourself
that all these little steps towards corruption won't actually corrupt
you.  Before you know it, you're there and it's too late.
